SOCIAL AWARENESS

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ – Matthew 25:40

The growth of Christianity in India during its nascent phase witnessed a concerted and compassionate social awareness. Providing basic Education and Medical assistance resulted in bonhomie and trust at mission fields.

Following the footsteps of early Missionaries, our Church can pride itself with organizing various social activities like Blood Donation Camps, Medical Camps etc. A big round of applause needs to be given to our Church Youth Fellowship which has been organizing Blood Donation camp regularly since 1998. This 19 year old social project witnesses blood donation by 80 people on an average year after year who comes from various faiths. Our Church also organizes Free Eye Check-up and Diabetic awareness campaign regularly.

Amman Nagar, Tirisulam is a classic example of the Social Awareness project of our Church. In the near past, we have conducted medical camp twice in this area which includes General checkup, Eye check up, Dental checkup and pediatric checkup. Good quality free medicines and spectacles were gifted to the needy beneficiaries. On an average, 500 people have participated in these medical camps.

We also wish to place on record that our Church has reached out with compassion to the residents of Karunilam near Chengalpet by organizing Medical camp. Many people have been benefitted.

During the unprecedented floods which threw life out of gear during November and December 2015, our congregational members rose to the occasion by organizing flood relief measures on war footing and distributed Food, Groceries and other useful things to the affected people. To be precise, 400 kits comprising of various relief materials were distributed to the flood affected people living near Kovilambakkam.

Every Monday evening at 7 pm Volunteers from Alcoholic Anonymous conduct counseling classes for people addicted to alcohol. 50 people on an average living within the vicinity of our Church from various walks of life have been benefitted by these classes.

The Social Awareness of our Congregation extends to visiting the Leprosy home, Orphanages and Old Age Homes. We also extend a helping hand to Mentally Challenged people and the Visually impaired in various ways. Kindly continue to uphold and support the Social Awareness projects of our Church in your personal and family prayers.
